Varied city tour with imposing landscapes, culture and dazzling shops for shopping!
On this tour you will explore Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. Best known as the oldest city and first permanent European settlement of the New World, the city was founded in 1496 by Bartholomew Columbus.
We will board a comfortable, air-conditioned bus for a two-hour tour of Santo Domingo. Once we’ve arrived at the capital city, we will first visit its Colonial Zone, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, overlooking the Ozama River and has a staggering amount of 16th. Century buildings, such as palaces and majestic churches that reflect the architectural style of the late Spanish medieval period.
While visiting the Colonial Zone, we will go to the ”Alcázar de Colón”, the “Altar de la Patria”, the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor and El Conde commercial district – where you will have time for shopping. Afterwards, we will have lunch at a typical Dominican restaurant. We will visit the Rum Museum following lunch to learn about its history and how its method of production. Of course, you will have an opportunity to sample various flavors. Following this, we head back to the resort.
