Viva Safari

An adventure to discover the culture and the most beautiful landscapes of the eastern region of the Dominican Republic!

We leave the Viva Wyndham Hotel at 8:00 a.m. from the reception in our safari truck.  Accompanied by our experienced tour guides we will visit the most typical places in the Dominican Republic. We start our tour in the Chavón river with a 30-minute raft ride.  We will visit the wonderful village of Altos de Chavón. Then we visit a tobacco factor, where we observe the manufacturing process of one of the most exporting products in the country and then we make a stop at a cocoa factory.

Our tour continues at the sugar cane fields to see the process of cutting and harvesting.  Afterwards you may try the freshly cut product. Then we will enter the city of Higüey to visit the La Altagracia Cathedral which was built by a French architect and inaugurated by Pope John Paul II.  We will also visit the city and pass the central market where you can find a wide range of shops and local products from the country.

Our tour takes us later to a typical ranch in Anamuya, which is located in the middle of the eastern mountains to see the coffee and cocoa plantations. There you can see the process of collecting and manufacturing the product and then you may also taste the end product.

A typical Dominican lunch is available for you in a rural setting to taste the flavors of this country. Our return to the hotel will be around 5:30 p.m.
